This project is my way of blending design and development on my own terms. I recently completed a Responsive Web Design certification, and this became the perfect opportunity to put those skills into practice. I planned, designed, coded, and managaged the process of every part of this project. I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the coding languages, and handled all the hosting, file management, and updates through GitHub.
The site started as a way for me to take back creative control of the presentation of my work. I used to host a site on Wix.com, and found myself limitated by this setup. I didn’t want my website to look like a boring template, and I didn't want my work to be tied to subscriptions and fees. I wanted something fully mine. So, I rebuilt everything from scratch and hosted on GitHub with my own custom domain. This let me get to a place of full ownership.
My goal was to create a portfolio that doesn't just show my work, but is a piece of my work. I focused on functionality and responsiveness first, then let myself get creative. I designed my own pixel art, playful UI elements, and interactive components. It’s a front-end project, but also a design project that I got to have a lot of fun with.
